Delphinium ‘Summer Skies’, a Pacific Hybrid type of Delphinium, produces tall spires of lovely sky blue flowers, that are perfect for adding height and colour to garden borders. Traditionally a cottage garden plant, they are also a popular choice for a range of garden styles. As well as being planted in garden borders, Delphinium ‘Summer Skies’ can also be planted in an area of perennial flowers, grown for the sole purpose of being cut for indoor floral displays. They flower in June and July and like full or partial sun. They are nectar rich and attract bumble bees to gardens. Height: 150cm (5’). Spread: 75cm (30″).

Choose a sunny position, sheltered from strong winds, in moist, well drained soil. Work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil.
Feed and water regularly until plants are established. When shoots reach a height of 30cm, the tall stems will require staking with garden canes for support. Remove old delphinium flowers as soon as they fade to encourage another flush to be produced later in the season. In autumn, remove old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant. Lift and divide in autumn every third year to maintain their vigour.
